Muscle & Blood began when three guys started sharing poetry and fiction via an online community. One was from the United States and (at the time) lived in India; another was from Canada, and the other, Australia. It wasn’t long before they realized they had something in common: they all liked literature that was authentic, gritty, and boiled down to its essentials.

They decided to start a literary journal, called Muscle & Blood, to showcase the kind of work they liked. The journal is now on its third issue, and the same three people remain as its core staff.
